The Wise Little Sparrow
In a quiet village surrounded by green hills, there lived a little sparrow named Chirpy. Chirpy was smaller than the other birds but was known for her cleverness and wisdom. She always believed in using her mind to solve problems, no matter how big they seemed.
One day, while Chirpy was hopping around in the field looking for food, she heard a loud commotion. A group of birds had gathered near a tree and were chirping anxiously. Curious, Chirpy flew over to see what was happening.
“What’s wrong?” Chirpy asked.
A robin pointed toward the farmer’s field. “The farmer has set up a huge net to trap us! He’s angry that we’ve been eating his seeds and grains.”
The birds were terrified. Every day, they relied on the farmer’s field for food, and now they didn’t know what to do. “If we go near the field, we’ll be trapped,” a pigeon said.
Chirpy thought for a moment. “We need to be careful, but I have an idea,” she said. “Let’s teach the farmer a lesson without harming anyone.”
The other birds looked at her curiously. “What’s your plan?”
Chirpy explained, “We’ll work together to remove the grains from under the net and leave them in a pile far away from the trap. This way, the farmer will see that we’re not greedy, and maybe he’ll understand we mean no harm.”
The birds agreed, and together, they carefully flew to the edge of the field. Chirpy, being the smallest, led the way and showed the others how to avoid the net. One by one, the birds picked up the grains and carried them to a safe spot under a large tree.
It took them all day, but by sunset, the trap was empty, and the grains were neatly piled far from the farmer’s field. Exhausted but proud, the birds flew back to their nests.
The next morning, the farmer came to check his trap. He was surprised to see the net empty and the grains gone. “What’s going on?” he muttered. He followed the trail of missing grains and found the pile under the tree.
As he stood there scratching his head, Chirpy flew down and perched on a branch nearby. She chirped loudly to catch his attention. The farmer looked up and saw the little sparrow.
Chirpy chirped again, fluttering around the pile of grains as if to say, “We’re not here to steal; we just need to eat too.”
The farmer watched the tiny bird and began to understand. “I see,” he said softly. “You’re not greedy. You only take what you need, and you’ve even moved the grains away from my field to avoid trouble.”
Touched by their effort, the farmer decided to change his ways. He removed the trap and instead set up a small feeding area at the edge of his field, where the birds could eat without harming his crops.
When the birds saw the new feeding area, they cheered for Chirpy. “You’re the wisest of us all!” they said.
From that day on, the birds and the farmer lived in harmony. The farmer’s crops flourished, and the birds never went hungry again. All thanks to Chirpy’s cleverness and wisdom.
Moral of the Story:
Wisdom and teamwork can solve even the toughest problems. Instead of fighting, finding a
peaceful solution benefits everyone.
