The Lazy Crow’s Lesson
In a peaceful village surrounded by golden fields, there lived a crow named Carl. Unlike the other animals who worked hard for their food, Carl was lazy and always looked for shortcuts.
One sunny morning, Carl perched on a tree branch, watching a group of pigeons collecting grains from the farmer's field. The pigeons were busy flying back and forth, storing the grains in their nests for the coming winter.
"Why waste so much energy?" Carl thought to himself. "I'll just wait for them to gather enough and then take some for myself."
As the days passed, Carl enjoyed his carefree life, resting in the shade and stealing bits of food from the pigeons whenever he got the chance. The pigeons noticed his behavior but didn’t confront him.
One day, a wise old owl named Olivia visited the tree. She had seen Carl’s antics and decided to teach him a lesson.
“Carl,” she said, “winter is approaching. Have you stored any food for yourself?”
Carl smirked. “Why should I? There’s plenty of food around, and I’m clever enough to get what I need without working hard.”
Olivia shook her head. “Being clever is good, Carl, but laziness will cost you more than you realize. Mark my words.”
Carl laughed and ignored her advice.
Soon, winter arrived, and the fields were covered in snow. The pigeons stayed warm in their nests, enjoying the grains they had collected. But Carl was cold and hungry. He flew to the pigeons, hoping to steal some food, but they had sealed their nests tightly to protect their supplies.
Desperate, Carl went to Olivia. “Wise Owl, I’m starving! Please help me find food.”
Olivia looked at him kindly but firmly. “I warned you, Carl. The forest has rules—those who work hard are rewarded, and those who don't must face the consequences. But I will help you this time so you can learn from your mistakes.”
Olivia shared some of her food with Carl and said, “Let this be a lesson. Hard work may seem tiring, but it always pays off. Laziness may seem easy, but it leads to hardship.”
Carl nodded, shivering from the cold. “I understand now, Olivia. I promise to work hard and prepare for the next season.”
When spring arrived, Carl kept his word. He worked tirelessly, gathering food and even helping the pigeons in the fields. The other animals were surprised by his transformation and welcomed him into their circle.
From then on, Carl became a symbol of perseverance in the forest, proving that it’s never too late to change.
Moral of the Story:
Hard work always pays off in the end, while laziness leads to regret. It’s never too late to learn fro
m your mistakes and start anew.
